VPNs for ad-blocking In the US, the film was exclusive to The Roku Channel. Locally though, not a single distributor was willing to bring pick up the off-beat musical comedy for Australian audiences. Weird Al fans were left in the lurch, with the parody artist himself going so far as to recommend they use a VPN or pirate the film via Twitter. If you either missed or ignored that advice, there’s some good news on the horizon. It’s taken longer than you might have hoped or expected it would, but Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is finally coming to Australia. At the time of writing, there are no other (legal) ways to stream and watch the film. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Paramount+ offers a 7-day free trial. That gives you plenty of time to tune into and enjoy Weird, which is only 90 or so minutes long. Once you’ve hit the credits on the parody biopic, you should still have a few days to check out what else Paramount+ has to offer. With originals like Yellowjackets and Ziwe in the mix, you might find something worth sticking around for. So long as you haven’t taken advantage of Paramount+’s free trial prior to now and remember to cancel your trial before the full seven days are up, you can watch Weird: The Al Yankovic Story in Australia for free.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is itself a parody of more traditional biopics like Bohemian Rhapsody and Straight Outta Compton that charts the rise of the titular musical comedian Weird Al. It’s a hilarious romp that both casual and hardcore fans of the titular parody can appreciate. There are tons of fun cameos, an outrageous level of commitment to the bit and a playfully-loose relationship with the truth. As put by the official synopsis for the film:
